There are moments in life that have taken my breath away. I remember one particular summer storm, sitting out on our back porch in Arab, Alabama. I was about eight years old, watching the wind and rain blow across the wheat and into the trees. It shook the trees so hard that you could see the underside of the leaves. And there I was, so exposed, sitting on the porch feeling the rain blow in on the wind … watching the lightning strike, followed by the immediate shaking of the thunder. I felt so small and so alive all at the same time.
