This is a place to help yourself as the name implies. I’ll share some books, artists and songs that have helped me, and I encourage you to contribute to the community in the comments section below and do the same. I’m always looking for a new book to read or something new to check out.
I’ll check back in to share my thoughts on some of your favorites and some new favorites of my own.
FIRST I have to say that laughter is good. My favorite new show, and also John’s, I think, is MODERN FAMILY which comes on Wednesday nights at 8 and will leave you laughing your you know what off.
BOOKS
The Go-Giver: This book is about success and heart. It’s a really easy read. Lots of people have a conscious or sub-conscious belief that you can have money or happiness but not both. That you can’t be a good business person and be a giving caring person at the same time. Somewhere in the back of my mind, I’ve had that little shadow lurking around. This book helped me by showing me that it’s possible to balance it all.
Eat, Pray, Love: Fun read! Adventure, travel, self-discovery, relationships, food, humor, spirituality … this one’s got a little of everything in it. I read it at the beach. Couldn’t put it down!
MUSIC
“You Are the Best Thing” by Ray Lamontagne – pumps me up, makes me wanna celebrate and sing along at the top of my lungs, always puts me in a good mood.
“Slow New York” by Richard Julian – of course I have tons of music and artists that I love. This is one you may not have heard. I love the feel of this one. It just puts me in a good, chill mood.
“Woke Up This Morning” by Alabama 3 – they are not from Alabama, and they are not a 3-piece band. This is a great song to start off the day.
“Deeper Well” performed by Emmylou Harris – awesome tribal drum feel, piercing lyrics. And anything off her album Wrecking Ball.
Also, any sounds Mike [Flanders] makes with his guitars!
