Hello World!

Ask anyone I’m really close to on a daily basis and they’ll tell you, I have plenty of opinions and I’m not afraid to speak them.  Ask people who don’t know me on a daily basis, and they’ll tell you I’m really nice and easy to get along with.

Truth is, like everyone on this huge spinning planet, I do things out of two reasons:  love or fear.

Love or fear of what, you might ask?  Position, reputation, money, other people, my own self.  So, one of my New Year, New Website Resolutions, is to speak up more. …to bring a little of my private thoughts into the public, and a few of my public actions into the private sector.. to be less fearful of what others think, and to be more careful with the hearts of those I love; basically to do more out of love and less out of fear. For instance, I’ve never blogged before!  Oh sure, I’ve journalled and kept thoughts in a locked vault down 10 stories behind a padlocked door that only I held the key to.  We all have, haven’t we? …from the holiest of the holies, to the worst of the worst.

I am so tired of worrying about it!  SO… I’m going to have to trust you, and you’re gonna have to let your opinions fall where they may.  Work out of love, that’s my goal.

Because…I love my life and the people in it.  The view and sound and smell and taste and touch of it.  It’s not always perfect, but it’s almost always satisfying these days. The more I follow my heart, the closer I am to the Creator, and the less I worry about the very interesting twists and turns on my life path.

I believe the Creator (fill in your own name here) is in all of us, otherwise how could we all be here?  If you disagree, that’s your right, and your prerogative.  And, I think music connects us, in times of happiness and sorrow, like Dave Matthews says, “someone’s heartache becomes your favorite song”.  During a particularly dark period I had Judy Harris, a publisher I was trying to “impress”, commented, “Your songs are great but they make me want to slit my wrists.”  I had to write out and feel out the dark to let the light back in.  I love how the connection of music lifted me then… and now… and always.

My Unlcle Skip gave me a book one year for Christmas on ethics and morality. I loved it.  It speaks to HUMAN responsibility.  I think it’s easy for us to put everything “on” God, and on what “should” have happened.  I personally believe that the Creator placed within each one of us the answers and the resources and the power to get through our lives, whether we know it or not.  He gave us everything we need.

Happy New Year, and happy days.
